ABOUT DR. PETER LEJKOWSKI
BKin, DC, FRCCSS(C)
Sports Injury Specialist
Sports Specialist Chiropractor, Active Release Techniques (ART®) Practitioner, Medical Acupuncture & Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization (DNS) Provider
This I know about myself, I am a big nerd. Especially when it relates to human anatomy, health, injury prevention, fitness and performance. If I had more time, I would still be in school, I would publish more, and I would still be teaching healthcare providers.
EDUCATION
After graduating with a degree in Kinesiology from McMaster University, I continued my education at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College and graduated from the 4-year program with a Doctor of Chiropractic degree (DC). I then continued my education with a full scholarship and completed a 2-year post-graduate residency in Sports Sciences, granting me the status of a practicing Sports Specialist Chiropractor.
As a clinician, I feel that it is important to have many tools within your toolbox. Therefore, I dedicate a significant portion of my free time to professional development.
I have been fully certified as a Contemporary Medical Acupuncture (McMaster University) and Active Release Techniques (ART®) provider. I have also spent the last several years completing extensive continuing education work in Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization (DNS) for the adult and the paediatric populations, through the world-renown Prague School of Rehabilitation in Czech Republic. I use all of this training daily, as part of a comprehensive clinical approach.
EXPERIENCE
I have worked in numerous clinical and on-field settings.
I have served as a team doctor for a number of provincial-level sports clubs and have been a medical team member for several provincial, national and international-level competitions. This includes amateur and elite-level athletes from all walks of sport.
Due to my particular interest in youth athletics, I have worked abroad with a number of youth Canadian high-performance teams including travelling with Taekwondo Canada.
In addition to my various work in sports, I have a particular interest in the performance arts community. Since 2012, I have worked with the Performance Arts Medicine Association (PAMA) as a presenter and a conference coordinator.
I currently work as the official company chiropractor for the Ballet Jörgen Canada, I also consult for the company’s Wellness Committee.
PROFESSIONAL INTERESTS
In addition to my professional work with patients, athletes and artists, I have always maintained a strong interest in education.
My teaching experience began while I was still a student at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College. During my studies, I worked part-time for the college, tutoring students in anatomy and orthopaedics. Following my graduation, I continued my work as faculty in the Anatomy and Clinical Education departments.
Since 2012, I have worked as a consultant for Agrosy Publishing; the company that created the Visible Body 3D Interactive Anatomy application, a state-of-the-art resource for students and healthcare providers. My work at Agrosy is that of an anatomical and clinical content specialist.
